Short courses for guitar and ukulele

Music education is one of the most expensive investments in time and resource. It requires a serious commitment to reap the benefits of individual music lessons taken over a long period of time (measured in years  not months or weeks). Is there another way to acquire musical skills and knowledge?

For the busy adult, it’s a matter of dedicating an hour each week to group lessons and up to half an hour each day to practice. Group classes offer the possibility of peer to peer learning and social interaction. It makes the class fun and entertaining.

The ukulele is easy to learn quickly for accompanying songs you already know how to sing to.

Maestro Dr Robert Bekkers will share his knowledge of the guitar with local residents through several short courses starting Monday 6th May. He conducts the Boston Guitar Orchestra whose members benefit from his coaching and technical guidance.

The venue of Walter Baker Building in Historic Lower Mills is ideally suited for the arts, as artists live and work there. The well-lit common room with a temporary art exhibit has high ceilings and plenty of natural light from its tall windows. Street parking is free, though public transport (near Milton T-station and bus stops) is recommended. Watch a video clip highlighting this area of Boston, famous for what was once the oldest chocolate factory in the country.
